What is a network service?
Network service refers to the distribution of electricity from a production facility to the electricity user.
In other words, electricity is not actually actively "transported," even though the network service has previously been referred to as electricity transmission. The distribution of electricity from production facilities to electricity users requires a sufficiently efficient transmission link in continuous operation. The flow of electricity must be maintained continuously, and it must be strong enough even during peak periods of consumption. Peaks of consumption are caused, for example, by freezing temperatures requiring a lot of heating power.
In the network service, the customer receives access to electricity from the network company, from the power plants to the metering panel, and the continuous maintenance of this electricity flow. The customer has the ability to use electricity as much as they want, whenever they want. The entire Finnish electricity network consists of several interconnected regional electrical power networks. Each region has its own network company responsible for ensuring that customers always have a reliable network service connection.
