Why does the electricity company charge a fixed fee?

According to the law, the electrical power network company must treat its customers equally and fairly. Therefore, all electrical power network customers living in the network area must contribute equally to the costs of maintaining, upgrading, and developing the electrical power network and its services. The majority (over 90%) of the costs of the electrical power network are fixed.

The network company therefore incurs costs even if electricity is not used. The electrical power network and the associated network automation and consumption measurements must be in working order at all times, even if electricity is not used at all. The customer pays the network service rate for the possibility to use electricity at the desired time.
