Will my network service prices increase if I shop around for an electricity contract?

The price of the electricity network service does not depend on the provider of the electricity or the competitive tendering of electricity. 

The customer is free to choose from which provider to buy their electricity without this affecting the price of the network service.

Yes, it does. Under electricity market legislation, the transferee of an electrical power network or, in the case of a merger, the acquiring company, is responsible for restoring any overpricing to the customers of the transferring or merging electricity network company for both the current and the preceding four-year monitoring period.

The Energy Authority examined the reasonableness of pricing for 2024–2027 in 2028.
