At the beginning of your electricity contract
You must sign an electricity contract with an electricity provider of your choice well in advance of the desired start date of the contract. We recommend signing the contract 14 days before the start date of the contract.
The electricity provider of your choice will notify us of your electricity contract, and we will turn on the electricity according to the notice of the start date of the contract. Please note that there will be no separate notification of when the connection will be made, so you must ensure in advance that it is safe to activate the electricity at the start of the contract.
We make connections on weekdays from 8.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., in which case the activation is free of charge if it has been ordered no later than the previous working day or the same working day by 2.00 p.m. Otherwise, an activation fee will be charged in accordance with our price list.
Electrical and fire safety when electricity is activated
A customer who signs an electricity contract must always take care of the proper use and functioning of their own electrical equipment, even when the electricity is activated. It is the customer's responsibility to makes sure that electricity can be securely activated on the first day of the electricity contract.
Please make sure that no electrical appliances that could pose a fire hazard are switched on in the location of use on the day of the start of the electricity contract. Such equipment includes, for example, stoves, ovens, sauna stoves, and powerful lamps used during renovation, as well as electric heaters with thermostats that are adjusted incorrectly or are near open windows when the outside temperature is low.
The activation is done with the remote power connector of an electricity meter or by the installer from the metering board of the property, where the activation status of the electrical equipment and possible hazardous situations cannot be detected. The same applies in the event of a power outage where the electricity is restored without a separate notification.
At the end of the electricity contract
According to the electricity market procedure, electricity must be cut off in locations of use that do not have an existing electricity contract. Activating and deactivating electricity are carried out by the local distribution network operator, which in our distribution area is Oulun Energia Sähköverkko Oy. At the end of the contract, the electricity is also cut off during the winter. The system operator is not liable for any damage caused by the disconnection of electricity.
