Merikoski fish pass is reopening 14 May
Water supply to the fish pass bypassing the Merikoski power plant will begin on Friday, 14 May 2024. At the same time, a live stream of the fish will also be launched on Oulun Energia’s website.
The Merikoski fish pass, which has become a well-known and popular landmark, enables fish to migrate from the sea, past the power plant, to the upper reaches of the River Oulujoki. Salmon and other migratory fish can travel 40 kilometres from the mouth of the river to the Montta power plant as well as to the side branches of the River Oulujoki, the River Muhosjoki and the River Sanginjoki.
Watch the fish stream and check out our online material about the fish pass.
