Oulun Energia starts a major renewal of district heating meters
Starting from the beginning of 2025, we will replace the meters of almost all our district heating customers with new ones. The overhaul will cover approximately 10,000 Oulun Energia district heating customers. The changes will be carried out in phases by area until 2029.
In this five-year project, the meters or the data transfer modules in the heat distribution rooms will be updated. The installations will be carried out in cooperation by authorized employees of Oulun Energia and Elvera Oy.
– With the updated data transfer technology, hourly consumption readings can be seen from the meters, whereas previously, for example, in detached houses, only daily data was available, says Risto Haapalainen, Service Manager at Oulun Energia.
The renewal, which will be implemented by area, will cover a total of approximately 10,000 district heating customers, ranging from detached houses to large properties. The work will start in January in the Heikkilänkangas area.
Before the installation work, Oulun Energia will inform its customers of the schedule via personal text message or letter.
– In addition to confirming the time, it would be good to ensure that the contractor can work without obstruction around the heat distribution room or meter, adds Risto Haapalainen.
The meter replacement will not affect existing customer prices or contracts.
