In spring 2021, Marja Keväjärvi received a call from Oulun Energia Sähköverkko Oy. At the other end of the line was a landscape planner for the electricity network company, who told Keväjärvi that an underground cable was planned to be laid through her forest plot in Kiiminki.

Oulu University Hospital is undergoing a major renovation: OYS 2030 is a renovation programme that will modernise the hospital’s operations and facilities to meet the challenges of future specialised medical care. The goal is for OYS to be the smartest hospital in the world by 2030, which also means growing electricity consumption. In 2016, it was found that the capacity of the hospital's electrical connections was not sufficient to cover the increase in electricity demand caused by new construction – Oulun Energia Sähköverkko Oy was invited to help solve the problem.
